Asphere by AsphereAsphere originates from the ongoing dialogue and friendship among the artists Maika Garnica, Aiko Devriendt and Thijs Paijmans, as shared experiences of time and space. The album takes Garnica’s sound objects and their visual aesthetics and sounds, as a ground formusical and audiovisual exchange. Gradually guiding us back into the now, the artists explore the subtle movements in between various spaces: those that arise from the interplay of different languages, the physical spaces within the sound objects, and the body of the listener and what is shared on a deeper and more intuitive level.With each track tied to an image of the artwork, Asphere balances between what is transmitted through listening and what remains unseen yet felt. Mixing different textures, patterns and rhythms, sonic processes such as sampling and granular synthesis resonate with microscopic images, as a magnifying glass transforming the sound objects into grainy landscapes. Sensing oscillations from within the flutes, bowls, and ceramic shapes towards the outer atmospheres; each time they return to the essence of the media’s materiality: earth, sound, and light – waves - tremble and interlace, traversing distances and continuously touching each other.

		<description>sleeping concert recap
A third edition of&#38;nbsp;slapen met wadi came much sooner than anticipated.&#38;nbsp;

On the night of May 18-19, 2024, during Antwerp Art Weekend, we had the pleasure of tailoring our sleeping concert to the unique setting of the church space at Extra City, at their request. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Extra City hosted a remarkable 20-hour non-stop program featuring performances, exhibitions, and workshops. 

For this occasion, the improvisations by Joachim Badenhorst, Inne Eysermans, Tsubasa Hori, Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė, Elke Van Buggenhout, and Jens Vydt engaged in dialogue with the acoustics and distinctive context of the venue.

We’ve recognized a strong interest in preserving some of the music from these concerts. Each night is fully recorded, and we are currently exploring ways to remix the live material and make it accessible again. We will keep interested individuals updated on the development of this process.

Wadi hosted a second sold-out slapen met wadi on the night of February 9-10, 2024, presenting another &#38;nbsp;‘full package’ sleeping concert at de Warande in Turnhout. 
Our wonderful lineup guided the audience through the liminal space between day and night, with music from Jens Vydt, Juri Jansen, Lucas Schreel, Joachim Badenhorst, Abel Ghekiere, Viktor Perdieus, Adriaan Severins, Winne Clement, and Elke Van Buggenhout.

We were also treated to special performances by Katharina Smets, who captivated us with Polish bedtime poetry, and Christine Sollie, dancing among the beds as a totem of our dream world. The possibility of incorporating other art forms to enhance and challenge the ongoing musical improvisation is an adventurous path we look forward to exploring further.

We are truly grateful to de Warande for the opportunity to host this large-scale event once again. And a heartfelt thank you to our audience for joining us on this extraordinary journey!

live improvisation
As a way of keeping the exchange warm between the different artists involved with wadi, we decided to schedule regular soundbaths. These improvisations of less than 2 hours help us to remain connected and prepared for the longer upcoming sleeping concerts. 
Honored to host this little BAATH#1 at De Studio in Antwerp on the 29th of August 2023. We were joined by healtcare students, following an international summer school on pollisitive health and well-being at KDG, University of Applied Sciences &#38;amp; Arts. This led to a fruitful conversation afterwards.

The biggest and warmest THANK YOU! to everyone who came and spend the night with us. This first edition of slapen met wadi sold out and was even more inspiring than we’d hoped it to be. On to the next one!
We’ve been getting a lot of questions about when we will be hosting another night. Although nothing is being arranged at the moment, the quickest way to hear about it is signing up to our newsletter. Wadi has been given the opportunity to host a sleeping concert in the night of 14-15 october.During an ongoing improvisation of 8 hours, 11 musicians, who meet eachother for the very first time, will guide you through the different stages of sleep. A perfect opportunity for us to wander into unknown accoustic territories and discover new sounds. You bring your sleeping bag or blanket, we provide delicate soundscapes, a good mattress and a cup of coffee or tea with a croissant in the morning.
